In this blog I would like to present you some cool features included in SIEMENS Simcenter Amesim.

  1. ROMs (Reduced Order Models)

Simcenter Amesim ROM Builder (Figure 1) is a tool for creating reduced-order models of complex systems. These models are simplified representations of the original system, extracted via AI-techniques, that can be used to perform simulations more quickly and efficiently, making it an invaluable tool for engineers seeking to optimize their system designs. The ROM Builder allows for the creation of accurate models with a reduced number of variables, enabling the use of simulations to test a wider range of scenarios, leading to faster and more efficient design iterations.

  1. Co-simulation between Simcenter Star-CCM+ and Amesim or Simcenter3D and Amesim

Combining Simcenter Simcenter3D and/or STAR-CCM+ with Simcenter Amesim is a powerful way to improve the precision of a model (see video below). Simcenter Amesim excels at simulating complex multi-domain systems, while Simcenter STAR-CCM+ is a leading computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software that is widely used to model fluid flow and heat transfer. By combining the two, engineers can create a more accurate model that accounts for both the mechanical and fluid dynamics aspects of a system. For example, in the design of an automotive cooling system, Simcenter Amesim can simulate the overall thermal behavior of the system, while Simcenter STAR-CCM+ can simulate the fluid flow through the heat exchangers. The two simulations can then be coupled together, allowing engineers to analyze the entire system. This approach provides a more comprehensive understanding of the system behavior and can lead to more accurate and optimized designs. The combination of Simcenter STAR-CCM+ and Simcenter Amesim enables engineers to simulate and analyze a wider range of scenarios, improving the precision of the model and helping to ensure the success of the design.

  1. Import a CAD model to Simcenter Amesim

Importing a CAD model into Simcenter Amesim is a straightforward process that can help engineers create more accurate simulations. After the CAD model is imported, users can then assign physical properties to the model. With a CAD model imported into Simcenter Amesim, engineers can create more accurate simulations that take into account the physical properties and behavior of the actual system, leading to better designs and more efficient engineering processes (Figure 2)
